Everything You Need to Know About Our Service

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a certified translation?

Certified translations are for official uses where your requester requires certification to verify that the translation is complete and accurate. This type of translation is commonly required for submission to government authorities, universities, courts and for visa applications. The translation must be a literal word for word translation of all visible text to satisfy the completeness requirement. Translators do not add or remove text or interpret the meaning behind the text.

What is the difference between notarised and certified translation?

A certified translation includes a signed statement from the translator or translation company confirming that the translation is complete and accurate. A notarised translation adds an extra layer of verification. A notary public checks the identity of the person signing the certification and witnesses the signature. Some authorities accept certified translations, while others specifically request notarised translations. We can advise you on what is required based on your checklist.

Do the authorities accept Your certified translations?

Our certified translations are prepared for use with Singapore authorities such as ICA, MOM, ACRA, ROM and other agencies, as well as embassies and foreign institutions. We follow their published requirements and format our translations appropriately. Because each case is different, we always encourage you to share the latest instructions from your requester so that we can confirm that certified or notarised translation is suitable.

Does ICA require notarisation for PR application?

ICA requires that non English documents submitted for PR applications are translated into English by qualified translators. In many cases a certified translation is sufficient. In some situations, ICA or related authorities may request notarised translations or additional legalisation. We review the PR checklist with you and can provide certification, notarisation and other supporting steps based on what your case requires.

Do I need to submit my original documents for translation?

In most cases you do not need to submit your physical originals. We can work from clear scanned copies or photos of your documents that you upload through our website or send by email. If a notary public or another authority needs to see the original document, we will let you know and arrange the appropriate process.

How can I get started with the translation process?

You start by filling in the online form on this page and uploading your documents. Tell us where you will be submitting the translation and any deadlines you have. We then review your documents, send you a quote and answer any questions. Once you approve and make payment, we begin the translation and keep you updated until you receive your certified or notarised documents.

How much does the certified translation service cost?

Our standard fee is 150 SGD per document for common Malaysian personal documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce certificates and SPM or education certificates. If your document is longer than usual or has multiple pages, we may adjust the quote accordingly, but we will always confirm the price with you in advance. There are no hidden fees and you only proceed once you are comfortable with the quote.

Will the notarised translation be a softcopy or a hardcopy?

You receive a PDF softcopy of every translation by email. For notarised translations, hardcopies that carry the notary public certification are also prepared. You can choose to collect the hardcopies or to have them delivered to a Singapore address via courier, depending on what your requester allows.

How long will the process take?

Most single page Malaysian personal documents can be translated and certified or notarised within 24 to 48 hours after payment, provided we have clear copies and all required information. Larger sets of documents or more complex cases may take longer. If you have a deadline from ICA, MOM, a court or another authority, let us know and we will confirm a realistic timeline before you commit.
