Know what you have

SPM certificate, result slip or STPM?

These are three separate documents. MOM and ICA treat them differently — knowing which you have prevents submitting the wrong translation.

SPM Certificate

The official qualification certificate issued by Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia (LPM). Required by MOM and ICA for official submissions — not the result slip.

SPM Result Slip

The notice issued at examination time. Not a substitute for the formal SPM Certificate for MOM S Pass or ICA PR applications.

Avoid costly delays

Why translations get rejected

A rejected submission means a delayed application. These are the most common causes — and how our process prevents each one.

  • SPM result slip submitted instead of the formal SPM Certificate

  • Subject names translated inconsistently vs. official English equivalents

  • Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia stamp or serial number omitted

  • Grade notation (A+, A, A–, B+) not translated consistently with Malaysian grading conventions

  • Machine translation — not accepted by MOM or ICA

  • Missing notarisation — mandatory for all submissions since October 2019

  • Acceptance guarantee: if your ICA or MOM submission is rejected due to an error in our translation or notarisation we correct it at no charge.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about this document type for MOM and ICA Singapore.

Does MOM require a translated SPM certificate for an S Pass application?
Yes. If your SPM certificate is in Malay, MOM requires a certified English translation to verify you meet the minimum educational threshold for an S Pass. A plain translation without certification is not accepted.
Can I use my SPM result slip instead of my SPM certificate for MOM?

No. MOM requires the formal SPM Certificate issued by Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia, not the result slip alone. If you only have the result slip, request the official certificate from LPM before ordering translation.

Does MOM require both the SPM certificate and full transcripts?

For S Pass applications, the SPM certificate is typically sufficient. For EP and PR applications, MOM may request a full academic transcript alongside the certificate. We advise on what is needed based on your specific checklist.

Does the Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia stamp need to be translated?

Yes. All official stamps, seals and serial numbers on the SPM certificate must be translated or described. Omitting the LPM stamp is a common rejection cause.

Does ICA require a notarised SPM translation for PR?

Yes. For ICA PR and Citizenship applications, SPM certificates submitted as supporting education documents must be notarised by a Singapore Notary Public and SAL-authenticated.

How much does SPM certificate translation cost in Singapore?

Certified translation starts from S$60 per document. Notarised translation (Notary Public + SAL) starts from S$150. Bundle pricing is available for SPM + STPM submitted together.

How long does it take to certify an SPM certificate?

Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours for certified translation. Notarisation with SAL authentication adds 1–2 working days. Urgent service is available on request.

Can you translate my STPM at the same time as my SPM?

Yes. We can handle SPM and STPM in a single order. Bundle pricing is available — contact us with both documents for a combined quote.
