Avoid costly delays

Why translations get rejected

A rejected submission means a delayed application. These are the most common causes — and how our process prevents each one.

  • Divorce type (Talak / Fasakh / Khuluk / Ta'liq) not translated — Sijil Perceraian

  • Iddah period and pronouncement particulars omitted

  • Court order reference number or Mahkamah case number missing

  • Name mismatch vs current passport

  • Missing notarisation — mandatory for all submissions since October 2019

  • Certified translation submitted when notarisation was required

  • Acceptance guarantee: if your ICA or MOM submission is rejected due to an error in our translation or notarisation we correct it at no charge.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about this document type for MOM and ICA Singapore.

Does ICA require a notarised translation of a Malaysian divorce certificate?
Yes. For ICA PR, Citizenship and LTVP, divorce certificates not in English must be notarised by a Singapore or by a notary public from the issuing country. A translation from a private company alone — with no notarisation — is not accepted by ICA. Since October 2019, a notarisation stamp is also required.
What is the difference between a Dikri Nisi Mutlak and a Sijil Perceraian?

A Dikri Nisi Mutlak (Decree Nisi Absolute) is a civil court order issued by the Malaysian High Court for non-Muslim divorces. A Sijil Perceraian is issued by the Mahkamah Syariah for Muslim divorces and records the divorce type (Talak, Fasakh, Khuluk or Ta’liq) and Iddah period.

Does a divorce certificate translation need SAL authentication for ICA?

Yes. Since October 2019, all notarised documents submitted to ICA — including divorce certificate translations — must be SAL-authenticated or translated and notarised in the country of origin e.g. Malaysia.

Does the Talak type and Iddah period need to be translated in a Sijil Perceraian?

Yes. All fields in the Sijil Perceraian must be translated, including the type of divorce (Talak, Fasakh, Khuluk or Ta’liq) and the Iddah period. These are specific to Syariah proceedings and are frequently omitted by non-specialist services.

Do I need to translate my divorce certificate for a Singapore PR application?

Yes. ICA requires disclosure and supporting documentation for prior marriages and divorces during PR applications. A notarised English translation of your divorce certificate is typically required.

How much does divorce certificate translation cost in Singapore?

Certified translation starts from S$60. Notarised translation (Notary Public + SAL) starts from S$150. Final pricing is confirmed before work begins.

Can I translate my divorce certificate alongside my birth or marriage certificate?

Yes. We can handle multiple documents in a single order. Bundle pricing is available — contact us with all documents for a combined quote.

How long does notarised divorce certificate translation take?

Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours for translation. SAL authentication adds 1–2 working days. Urgent service is available on request.
